About

Charlo Maurer & Peace of Money

Financial Planning Education

In 1996 I completed my training as a financial planner through the College for Financial Planning in Colorado. The program required the completion of five courses in the areas of retirement planning, insurance, taxes, investing, and estate planning.

My previous education and professional experience are in the fields of education and communication disorders.

Peace of Money

Peace of Money was formed in 1998 as an independent private practice in Watertown, Massachusetts. Through Peace of Money I advise clients in all areas of financial planning.

For a flat hourly fee, I can provide as much or as little support and advice as each client needs.

Typical Clients

  • Single Women and Men
  • Newly Married or Unmarried Couples
  • Same-sex Couples
  • Families with Children
  • Retirees

Philosophy of Investing

My investment philosophy is centered around balancing the risks and rewards of particular investments, matching investments to clients' goals, differentiating between short and long term needs, and stressing the importance of diversification.

Socially responsible investing and banking are particular interests of mine. They can be used as part or all of a client's investments.

Recommendations of mutual funds will include index funds, funds with no loads and low fees, tax-efficient funds, and those with consistent performance and lower risk.

Priorities as a Planner

As an educator, I enjoy teaching my clients about the basics of wise financial planning and investing.

Being an independent fee-only planner enables me to provide clients with personalized objective advice. I accept no commissions and do not sell any investment products or insurance products. Fee-only means that you pay only for the time that I work for you, never a commission for any investment product.

Registration with the State of Massachusetts
